Publication Metadata only 21st Century Skills for English Teachers(2018) Tütüniş, Birsen; 6808Publication Embargo 3-6 yaş arasındaki çocukların oyuncak tercihlerinin toplumsal cinsiyet bağlamında incelenmesi(2016-08) Alabay, Erhan; YAĞAN, SEVCAN; 55019; 139651Bu çalışmada, çocukların oyuncak tercihleri toplumsal cinsiyet bağlamında incelenmiştir. Publication Metadata only 4-6 yaş okul öncesi dönem çocuklarının bakış açılarıyla babaları(2015) Albay, Erhan; YAĞAN, SEVCAN; 55019; 139651Publication Metadata only 60-72 Ay Çocuğu Olan Ebeveynlerin Bağlanma Boyutları ve Çocuklarına Yönelik İlgi Düzeyleri ile Çocukların Benlik Algısı Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi(2017) Ata, Seda; YAĞAN, SEVCAN; 146799; 55019Publication Metadata only A Review of The Children s Rights in Printed Media(2013) TORAN, MEHMET; 127979Publication Metadata only Acknowledging the Mother Kenneth Branagh's Mary Shelley's Frankenstein as Elaboration of Mary Shelley's Novel Frankenstein(2004) Ceylan, Özlem Gülgün; 107801Publication Embargo Alt Sosyo-Ekonomik Düzey Annelerin Çocuklarını Kabul ve Reddetme Davranışlarının İncelenmesi (Diyarbakır Örneği)(2004) Erkan, Semra; TORAN, MEHMET; 12619; 127979İlk çocukluk yılları, bireyin tüm hayatını yönlendirecek bir etkiye sahiptir. Publication Embargo An analysis of educational faculty students’ research self-efficacy in terms of a number of variables(Elsevier, 2015) Saral, Duygu Gizem; ÖZDOĞAN, DİDEM; 104052; 149072Enabling students to acquire the research abilities is an educational issue. The target of education is to raise individuals with research-oriented attitudes and behaviours. Sustaining the research activities requires that, in addition to the compatibility of research environments, individuals and institutions to conduct the research have the competence facilitating them to do the research. Therefore, the need was felt to determine educational faculty students’ levels of research self-efficacy. This research examines whether or not educational faculty students’ research self-efficacy differs on the basis of gender, university, department, and taking or not taking the Scientific Research Methods course. The research sample was composed of 532 volunteering students attending the Psychological Counseling and Guidance, Elementary School Mathematics Teaching, Science Teaching, and Computer and Teaching Technologies departments of the educational faculties of Amasya and Eskişehir Osmangazi Universities. The research data were obtained through a 43-item, 5-pointed Likert scale of Research Competence (Büyüköztürk, 1997), with a reliability coefficient of α=0,89 . In the analysis of the data, the frequencies and the percentages for the variables were calculated, the one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) and the significance test for the difference between two averages (the t-test) were employed. When differences were found between the groups in consequence of the variance analysis, between which groups the differences were available was found via the Scheffe test. Consequently, it was found that educational faculty students’ research self-efficacy differed according to department, and to whether they took the Scientific Research Methods course; but that it did not differ according to gender or university.Publication Embargo An analysis of preschool teachers’ sense of efficacy: A case of TRNC(2017-04) TORAN, MEHMET; 127979Determining the factors that affect teachers' competences has a decisive role in revealing the quality of teaching process. In this context, it is important to identify professional variables affecting the self-efficacy of preschool teachers. For this reason, it is aimed to investigate which professional variables influence preschool teachers' sense of efficacy. In the research, a descriptive research model was adopted. The working group of the study is composed of 191 preschool teachers participating in public nurseries and kindergartens in the TRNC, and also those participating to the research as a volunteer. The Professional Information Form and the Teacher’s Sense of Efficacy Scale were used as data collection tools in the study. Statistical analyses suitable for the analysis of the data were applied by applying the normality tests to the collected data. According to the findings obtained from the analysis made, except for the school type the preschool teachers graduated and the number of children, factors such as the graduated department, the place of residence, the duration of professional experience, the economic competence, and the educational environment were found to affect the self-efficacy of preschool teachers. As a result, it can be said that preschool teachers' self-efficacy is influenced by professional variables.Publication Metadata only An Analysis of The Effects of Early Stem Activities Enriched Preschool Education Program on Children’s Competence of School Readiness and Concept Acquisition(2018) Ayvaz, Ebru; Etgüer, Damla; TORAN, MEHMET; 127979; 258019Publication Metadata only An Evaluation of Convention on The Rights of The Child in The System of Turkish Preschool Education(2010) Yağcıoğlu, Sedat; TORAN, MEHMET; 127979; 111875Publication Open Access An Examination of cartoons watched by preschoolers in terms of gender stereotypes: The case of Niloya(2017) Ay, Aylin; Saray, Filiz; Kılıç, İsmihan; YAĞAN, SEVCANThis is a basic interpretive qualitative research as it aims to examine the cartoon named Niloya in terms of the gender stereotypes. 50 episodes of the cartoon were watched and the data collected were subjected to a content analysis. It has been emerged that the characters found in the cartoons have proper behaviors and appearances in terms of gender stereotypes and that the cartoon contributed to the production of gender stereotypes. It was seen in the cartoon that housework such as cooking, cleaning, childrearing is always done by the mother and work such as driving, gardening and keeping the animals is done the father and the grandfather. In the episodes watched, it was observed that female characters wear pink and purple dresses while male characters have colors like blue, yellow, green on their clothes. It was also found that play and toy preferences of girls and boys in the cartoon are conformed with the gender stereotypes. When considering that majority of children watch cartoons and identify themselves with this character, it can be said that the problem of gender inequality needs to be solved in the cartoon and the messages within the content should be reorganized to achieve women-men equality.Publication Embargo An Examination of Turkish preschool curriculum’s effect on children’s concept acquisition(Elsevier, 2012) Temel, Zeynep Fulya; TORAN, MEHMET; 127979; 7909The aim of this study is to examine the effect of Turkish preschool curriculum on children’s concept acquisition. Along with that, the attitudes have a significant effect on how much language learners become interested in learning (Inal & Evin, 2006). That’s to say, each language learner has the potential to develop different kinds of attitudes towards language learning. The present study focused on the attitudes of Turkish young learners and teenagers towards English Language Learning (ELL). It aimed to find out whether the attitudes of young learners change when they begin to be teenagers and whether the results correlate with the assumptions. If they correlate, the possible reasons behind that were tried to be named for these changes. Moon (2011) claims that compared to young learners, teenagers are inclined to lose their desire for language learning and they could be less motivated. In line with the statement of Moon (2011), the current study displayed that teenagers began to develop more negative attitudes towards ELL, losing their enthusiasm and motivation for ELL for various reasons. The implications of these results on education settings in Turkey were discussed and commented at the end of the paper.Publication Metadata only Anasınıfı Çocuklarının Oyun ve Oyun Arkadaşı Tercihlerinde Cinsiyet Unsurunun İncelenmesi(2015) Alabay, Erhan; YAĞAN, SEVCAN; 139651; 55019Publication Metadata only Anasınıfı Çocuklarının Oyun ve Oyun Arkadaşı Tercihlerinde Cinsiyet Unsurunun İncelenmesi(2012) Taş, Işıl; YAĞAN, SEVCAN; 55019; 105892Publication Metadata only ANOMAT Anadolu Matematik Beceri Ölçeğinin Geliştirilmesi(2014) Erdoğan, Serap; Yanık, Hüseyin Bahadır; Kumtepe, Alper Tolga; Giren, Songül; Yıldırım Polat, Aslı; Karademir, Abdulhamit; Parpucu, Nurbanu; Yalçın, Vakkas; YAĞAN, SEVCAN; 58174; 55540; 55041; 55949; 55019; 59692; 15354; 56105; 44180Publication Open Access Are There Any Changes in Mothers' Attitudes? Analysis of the Impact of the Covid-19 Quarantine on Child-Rearing Attitudes(Pergamon-Elsevier Science Ltd., 2022) TORAN, MEHMET; Özden, BülentThe present study aims to examine the impact of the time spent by mothers at home with their children during the quarantine period that was implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic on the mothers' child-rearing attitudes, taking into consideration some variables and the experiences of mothers. The study was designed using embedded mixed design, in which qualitative and quantitative research methods were used together. The quantitative research group consisted of 673 mothers and the qualitative research group consisted of 16 mothers. The research data was gathered online using the Lime Survey platform, and the interviews with the mothers were also held online. Demographic information form, the Child Rearing Attitude Scale, and a semi-structured interview form were used as data collection tools. Moderator variable analysis was used for the quantitative research data and descriptive analysis was used for the qualitative research data in support of the quantitative data. The findings revealed that the mothers' child-rearing attitudes changed depending on the variables concerning the children; however, the quarantine period instituted due to COVID-19 had an impact on the mothers' child-rearing attitudes depending on the variables of age and number of children. The qualitative findings obtained from the interviews supported the quantitative findings. However, it was revealed that the mothers' attitudes towards their children underwent changes during the quarantine period under COVID-19.
